At the end of every month we pull up our Cash Dash and check in on how we did + set our goals for the next month!

💰what income do we expect
💰what bills are coming up,
💰what debts need to be paid,
💰do we need to change our emergency fund?
💰what is our net worth?
💰and the most fun part, what goals are we saving for! (eg. vacations, house down payment, car purchase, investments etc)

Once we know that all of the important things above are being covered, the money leftover is “free to spend” however we want! Because we don’t really care if we spend $50 on a shirt or $50 on a dinner on if we know we’re on track with our goals 💯

We want to make sure our spending keeps us on track with our goals, but we don’t love having to track every penny like a traditional budget does.

We DO want to have peace of mind knowing:

✅what bills are coming up,
✅what debts need to be paid,
✅what’s the status of our emergency fund
✅and the most fun part, that we are on track with all of our goals (eg. vacations, house down payment, car purchase, investments etc)

Once we know that all of the important things above are being covered, the money leftover is “free to spend” however we want! Because we don’t really care if we spend $7 on a coffee or $10 on chipotle if we know we’re on track with our goals 💯

Strategy #11: Abandon your cart. Fill your cart and then leave the website without completing the purchase. Some retailers will send you a follow up email with a discount or extra incentive to encourage you to complete the transaction. I’ve actually done this on accident and am always so surprised how quickly they send an incentive, they want that sale!

Strategy #12: if you’re a teacher, healthcare worker, government employee, first responder, student, senior, nonprofit worker or member of the military, check to see if the store offers you a discount!
